Da Nang strives to ensure safety of tourists visiting Son Tra Peninsula

During his working session on Monday with representatives of the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches, Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang delivered his constructive instructions and suggestions to this agency for the sake of its better work performance in the coming time, with a heed paid to ensure the ultimate safety of tourists visiting the peninsula.

According to Secretary Quang, Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Tourist Beaches is the first of its kind in Viet Nam, so it bears many unique characteristics.

The scope and field of management is wide, stretching through local beaches and the Son Tra Peninsula site, directly affecting 4 districts boasting many tourist attractions, namely Ngu Hanh Son, Son Tra, Thanh Khe, and Lien Chieu.

The city’s Party chief acknowledged, evaluated and praised outstanding achievements recorded by the Management Board and proposed a need to better serve the State management in the field of tourism on  Son Tra Peninsula and tourist beaches.

He also asked the municipal Department of Tourism and other relevant local agencies to create more favourable conditions for the Management board to successfully complete its assigned tasks.

The municipal administration shall mobilise all resources to implements a landmark project on tourism development by 2030 and the following years.

Regarding the autonomy mechanism, the Management Board needs to improve the quality of its operations as well as develop human resources, propose investment mechanisms to secure operations, make appeals for investments from the whole community to make purchase of more necessary equipment to ensure the ultimate safety of tourists going to beaches and the Son Tra Peninsula for sightseeing and exploration trips.

Also addressing the event, Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Tran Phuoc Son highly appreciated the great efforts exerted by the tourism industry, the effective coordination among functional local bodies in welcoming tourists back. Thanks to this, the number of visitors to Da Nang over the past time has shown good signs.

As reported by the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches, the Management Board is in charge of the Son Tra Peninsula, about 30km along 2 sea routes.

There are sufficient support tools, equipment, specialised vehicles, along with over 90 lifeguards on duty along tourists beaches and the waters off the peninsula to ensure safety of tourists there.

Over the past 15 years, lifeguards have safely rescued more than 1,750 beachgoers who were in distress and dangers at sea.

Also the meeting, Secretary Quang presented gifts to the rescuer Nguyen Huu Toan Chung, who promptly rescued a group of tourists in distress while swimming at beaches.
