Such beaches across the city as Hoa Hai, My An, T20 in Ngu Hanh Son District, My Khe, Phuoc My, Man Thai in Son Tra District, Thanh Binh, Thuan Phuoc in Hai Chau District, Thanh Khe, Hoa Minh, Xuan Thieu in Lien Chieu District have packed with domestic and foreign visitors following fully reopening of Da Nang to tourists.
In its efforts to ensure the safety of locals and tourists while swimming at the beach, the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches has installed floating buoys to create safe swimming zones at the beach, placed warning signs for dangerous currents and areas without lifeguards. In addition, special attention has been paid to using loudspeakers, website, and fanpage of the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches to introduce lifeguard regulations, beach rules and other related regulations.
Lifeguards are daily on duty at beaches until 9:30 pm to conduct patrols on some major beaches on the coastal Hoang Sa - Vo Nguyen Giap - Truong Sa route in a bid to remind locals and tourists of safety precautions while swimming at the beach during the evening hours.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Vinh, the Rescue Team Captain at Da Nang beaches said that the Rescue Team has around 100 lifeguards who are divided into 19 groups to perform their duties at beaches along the coastal Hoang Sa - Vo Nguyen Giap and Hoang Sa and Nguyen Tat Thanh routes.
Lifeguards work in shifts, and they are on duty at various locations along Da Nang beaches from 4:30 am to 7:00 pm every day. Lifeguards also work with security personnel to conduct evening patrols until 9:30 pm on coastal areas from Sao Bien to Man Thai beaches.
The heed is paid to placing warning signs about hazard and danger at beaches. Trained lifeguards are posted along the designated beaches to keep beach-goers safe.
The majority of local residents and tourists strictly follow beach safety rules while participating in recreational activities and swimming at the beach. However, some of them are seen ignoring warning signs and all reminders about the danger at the beach as they still swim in rough days or swim outside the designated swimming area which is marked with buoys on the water.
The Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches has issued regulations on the management of Da Nang beaches and the guidance for beach service providers to improve their service quality and ensure that they operate in a civilized manner. Besides, management rules of motorized and non-motorized water sports, including stand-up paddleboards (SUP) and surfboards plus the rule of rescue operations for such sports and other related regulations have been released.
The focus is being paid to encouraging active involvement of individuals and organisations in beach cleanups as well as raising public awareness of beach rules through using social media channels and loudspeakers along the city’s coastal areas in an effort to promote Da Nang as a safe, clean and beautiful destination for travellers in the upcoming tourist season in the city.
