Use of traditional Vietnamese medicine in treatment proves highly effective
The Da Nang Hospital of Traditional Medicine has, over the past time, constantly improved the quality and effectiveness of treatment, bringing many benefits to patients, and is highly appreciated by the local authorities.

Over the past years, with the support from the Da Nang administration and the municipal Department of Health the Da Nang Hospital of Traditional Medicine invested in upgrading and revamping itself with many modern equipment and facilities, effectively in service for medical examination and treatment.
In October 2021, the hospital moved to a new spacious and spacious campus on Dinh Gia Trinh Street, Hoa Xuan Ward, Cam Le District with a scale of 300 beds. The team of doctors here regularly participates in training programmes in a bid to enhance their professional capacity and qualifications.
There are many initiatives and scientific research topics that are highly appreciated by the authorities and effectively applied at the hospital.
Since the beginning of 2022, the Hospital of Traditional Medicine has operated the Post-COVID-19 Treatment and Counseling Unit of the Da Nang General Hospital has received hundreds of patients for examination, psychological consultation and treatment of sequelae.
In particular, the hospital has successfully developed 23 products from medicinal plants and traditional medicine. These are appraised and approved by the competent authorities for use in treatment.
Meritorious doctor Nguyen Van Anh, Director of the hospital said, “In the coming time, the hospital will continue to promote the emulation movement to come up with initiatives, do scientific research projects, promote the results of medicine preparation, and exert even more efforts to implement them combining traditional Vietnamese medicine with Western one in medical examination and treatment, enhancing the operational efficiency of the Post-COVID-19 Treatment and Consulting Unit”.
Patient treatment and care activities at the hospital are carried out scientifically and enthusiastically.
A patient from the neighbouring province of Thua Thien-Hue suffered from a cerebrovascular accident in 2021 which later resulted in complete immobility. Previously, her children were on duty at the hospital to take care of her, but for three months now, she has been serving herself without support from them.
The female patient said, “Upon a stroke, I was under treatment in many medical establishments but no signs of improvement were recorded. Fortunately, given the dedicated treatment by doctors and nurses at the Da Nang Hospital of Traditional Medicine, my health has improved a lot. Now, I can physically do all the activities by myself without care and support from my children”.
In November 2021, another female patient from Ly Son Island District, Quang Ngai Province suffered from sequelae of cerebral infarction, paralysis of the whole body. She was therefore rushed to the Da Nang Hospital of Traditional Medicine with the hope of any health improvement.
The woman was actively treated by doctors, accessing both traditional Vietnamese medicine a and Western one in treatment and practicing rehabilitation under the guidance of an American physiotherapist - Mrs. Virginia Lockett.
Mr. Nguyen Van Luan, the woman’s son shared, “Having received treatment, my mother's health has significantly been improved and she is now able to do some daily life activities”.
Recently, during an inspection visit to the Da Nang Hospital of Traditional Medicine in 2021, the inspection team from the General Department of Traditional Medicine Management under the Vietnamese Ministry of Health highly lauded this hospital for its comprehensive achievements over the past years, leading the system of traditional medicine hospitals in the country.
"With good preparation of human resources along with modern equipment and facilities, we believe that the Da Nang Traditional Medicine Hospital will record even more development strides in the coming time," said Head of the inspection team Hoang Thi Hoa Ly.
