The Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health in 2022 takes “Strengthening measures to reduce risks in occupational safety and health, improve working conditions in the workplace, and ensure flexible adaptation to and controllable effective of COVID-19’ as its theme.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman Yen emphasized that workers are the driving force of the city's socio-economic development, especially in the context of recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic. Any loss or damage caused by an occupational accident will result in physical, mental and material pain for the family’s victim. The creation of a hygienic and safe working environment can bring into full play the motivation and ability of employees.

“However, challenges and risks in occupational safety can exist on a daily basis mainly from the subjectivity, neglect or lack of knowledge about occupational safety of both employees and employers. Therefore, each enterprise and employee should join hands to act together for a better and safer working environment, for themselves, their families, businesses and to build Da Nang into a peaceful and civilised city", said Vice Chairwoman Yen.

In the time to come, focus will be on promoting dissemination of occupational safety and health amongst employers and employees. In particular, a close watch should be kept on high risks of occupational accidents such as at construction works, quarries, metallurgical production facilities, mechanics, machine manufacturing, electricity consumption and transmission.

Any violations on the national regulations on occupational safety and health will be strictly handled.

According to the municipal Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, in 2021, the occupational accident situation tends to decrease, especially the number of fatal events. However, it still focuses mainly on occupations and fields of labour in construction, machine operation and production equipment.

There are still unexpected incidents leading to occupational accidents, mainly due to electric shock, falls from height, crashes and scaffolding collapse.
