Natural disaster prevention and mitigation plans needed for houses and construction works
The Da Nang Department of Construction on Monday issued a document on proactively preventing and mitigating natural disasters to ensure the safety of people, houses and construction works before the rainy and stormy season in 2022.
Accordingly, the Department asked relevant units to urgently prepare flood and storm mitigation plans for works that are under construction and have been put into use under their management.
Specifically, the focus will be on inspecting and reviewing low-lying areas at high risk of being affected by tube floods and flash floods during the forthcoming rainy and stormy season, in tandem with preparing for emergency evacuation plans to move at-risk people to safer areas.
Importance will be attached to checking high-rise buildings under construction with basements and requiring reinforcement measures so as to avoid landslides and guarantee safety for construction workers and neighbouring works.
As for technical infrastructure projects that are under construction, greater efforts will be made to deal with flooding, clear rainwater flows, and reinforce key points prone to landslides of canals, sewers, ponds and reservoirs.
With regard to industrial works in the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and local industrial parks, the Authority of the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Parks shall direct the investors and managers of industrial works to make specific plans for flood and storm prevention and mitigation.
