A training course on enhancing the integrated management of water resources in the Vu Gia - Thu Bon river basin is currently open to public officials and specialists from relevant agencies and units operating reservoirs, irrigation and hydroelectric projects in Da Nang and the neighbouring province of Quang Nam.

The event is co-hosted by the Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, the Centre for Environmental and Community Research (CECR) and the Centre for Sustainable Development of Water Resources and Adaptation to Climate Change (CEWAREC).

The 2-day event is within the framework of the ongoing project ‘Join hands to protect water resources’ sponsored by the United States Agency for International Cooperation (USAID).

The participants joined experience exchanges and identified the existing shortcomings in the inter-reservoir operation process in the Vu Gia - Thu river basin and the operation of hydropower reservoirs during flood and dry seasons.

In addition, the event witnessed the participation discuss highly-effective plans on water use in the lower Vu Gia - Thu Bon river, measures to ensure stable water supplies until the end of the dry season as well as propose feasible solutions to streamline administrative procedures for the sake of a faster and flexible reservoir operation process.
