7 rare turtles released back into natural environment

Mobile forest rangers and forest fire prevention and fighting teams from the Da Nang Forest Protection Sub-Department have released 7 Pulkin (eastern black-bridged leaf - Cyclemys pulchristiata) turtles, a precious endangered species of Asian leaf turtles found in southern Indochina, back into in the Ba Na - Nui Chua special-use forest.

Previously, the above-mentioned functional forces had worked with the Management Board of Cam Le Market to make a surprise inspection of a store trading in agricultural and aquatic products in the market and detected the illegal trade of the 7 Pulkin turtles here.

The competent units have sanctioned administrative violations on such an illegal wildlife trade and at the same time confiscated the aforementioned turtles.

Upon the completion of related procedures as prescribed by law, the releasing of the turtles back into the natural environment was conducted.
