In his opening speech delivered at the ceremony, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Quang Nam highlighted the significance of the conference in opening up a good opportunity for the city to promote socialisation of resources and attract investment from the private and foreign sectors in the classification, collection, transportation and treatment of solid waste, especially domestic solid waste, thereby contributing to effectively implementing the project 'Building Da Nang into an Environmentally-friendly City' for the 2021 - 2030 period.

The event gives a great opportunity for agencies, associations, organisations, businesses, and domestic and foreign investors to exchange information, and share advanced technologies in waste treatment. Also, it contributes to encouraging enterprises to promote the transfer of new, advanced and modern solid waste treatment technologies, and waste recycling technology, that are suitable for Vietnamese cities in general and Da Nang in particular in the coming time, emphasised Vice Chairman Nam.

The event is jointly organised by the municipal Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the Viet Nam Urban Environment and Industrial Zone Association, the Viet Nam Environmental Industry Association, the Viet Nam Waste Recycling Association, and the Informa Markest Company.

The international exhibition is being held on August 25 and 26, with more than 35 booths of domestic and foreign units and businesses.

On display at the exhibition are models of domestic solid waste treatment areas, garbage transfer stations, septic tank sludge treatment solutions, modern urban waste collection, transportation and treatment equipment, and technologies and microbiological products of many domestic and foreign enterprises.

During the two-day event, participants will listen to 21 high quality presentations by scientists, managers, and business leaders at home and abroad.

Other side activities will be held, including an exhibition of children’s paintings on environmental issues, recycling waste collection, a gift giving festival, a supply and demand connection event, a ceremony to give investment licences to enterprises, and a visit to the garbage transfer station on Le Thanh Nghi Street.
