Goods abundant in Da Nang during the holiday season

Supermarkets and commercial centres in Da Nang have actively prepared abundance of goods and launched many attractive promotion programmes during the 4-day break for the National Day holiday in a bid to satisfy the growing demand from local customers.

According to the Authority of the Tho Quang Fishing Port and Wharf, 95 fishing boats in Central Viet Nam provided 195 tons, 198.5 tons and 215.1 tons respectively for local markets from September 1 - 3.

"The output of seafood supplied to the market during the National Day holiday has increased by 5-10% compared to normal days" said Deputy Head of the Authority Nguyen Lai.

Director of the Agriculture Sub-Department under the municipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Dang Ngoc Son said that during the holiday, the city has seen a more than 5% in the number of pigs, cows, chickens and ducks slaughtered and processed to serve people and tourists.

On September 3 alone, livestock and poultry processing establishments slaughtered 62 cows and buffaloes, 1,223 pigs, 4,053 chickens and 1,570 ducks to supply the market. The control of livestock and poultry processing and veterinary hygiene inspection are strictly obeyed according to the city’s regulations.

As noted by our reporters, from September 1 to 3, wet markets, supermarkets, and commercial centres in the city have overrun by visitors. Goods at markets and supermarkets are abundant and there is no phenomenon of high price increase.

At the Da Nang-based GO! Supermarket, the volume of stockpiled goods is rose by more than 50% compared to weekdays to serve the shopping needs of people and tourists during this year’s holiday.

The GO! Supermarket is offering discounts of 20-50% on a wide range of products like fast-moving consumer goods, household appliances, homecare products, and vegetables.

Food safety is also a top priority given by the supermarket, so supermarket staff regularly check food safety for ready-to-eat foods at the counters, quality of water, labels of goods, and more.

In a similar vein, Co.op mart Da Nang, Lotte mart and Vicom plaza have been offering many incentive discount programme.

During the holiday, the city’s Food Safety Management Board has established 5 inspection teams. These team are responsible for regularly monitoring the food safety at wet markets and catering establishments. Also, they focus on inspecting food origin, and food processing and preservation processes.
