Widespread rains in parts from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai, including Da Nang, till Thursday

Since early Wednesday morning, Da Nang has been experiencing moderate to heavy rains.  

According to the Mid-Central Region Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, widespread rainfall at most places with moderate to heavy rains at isolated places are likely over the parts from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai, including  Da Nang, till Thursday, September 8 under the influence of a low pressure trough while few places could receive extremely heavy rain.

Late Wednesday afternoon into Thursday, Quang Binh could receive between 70mm and 150mm of rain, with more than 200mm possible in some places while as much as 50mm-120mm of rain could fall in Quang Tri, and even more than 150mm in some places.

The total rainfall amount will be 30mm-60mm in common in Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam and Da Nang from early morning hours of Wednesday into Thursday, while more than 100mm of rain could fall in some places. Quang Ngai could receive between 40mm and 80mm of rain, with more than 120mm possible in some places.

Rainfall warnings have also been issued for a widespread soaking rain that could dump as much as 20mm-40mm of rain per hour in Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces, and even 60mm per hour in some places, over the next 2-3 days.

Forecasters have also issued warnings of flash floods and landslides for mountainous areas, and localized flooding alerts are in place in low-lying and riverside areas over these areas, especially in Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces.

Rainfall activity is likely to reduce in the parts from Thua Thien Hue to Quang Ngai, including Da Nang, from Thursday, September 8, the regional weather service has indicated.

Best chance for scattered showers will be likely at most places across the parts from Thua Thien Hue to Quang Ngai, including Da Nang, during the afternoon and evening hours. The regional forecasters indicate moderate rainfall of 10mm-30mm  at isolated places.
