Fishing boat towed to safety after engine failure

A fishing boat has been towed to safety after breaking down in blustery conditions off the coast of Con Co Island, Quang Tri Province.

The Naval Zone 3 High Command launched to a request by the Naval High Command to help the distressed fishing boat on Monday.

A distress call was made at 9:00 pm on Monday, October 10.

The fishing boat QB-98065TS from Quang Binh Province with 7 crew members suffered engine failure and it was adrift 45 nautical miles northeast of Con Co Island in fierce weather conditions with sustainable winds at levels 6 to 7, with gusts as high as level 8.

Resue ship 302 was launched to help the distressed boat and reached it at 6:30 am on Tuesday, October 11, and then towed the broken down fishing boat back to safety today.

All the crew are now safe and in good health.
