Mr. Pham Ngoc, the Vice Chairman of the Da Nang Bonsai Association, has a great passion for bonsai trees.

Bonsai is the art of aesthetic miniaturisation of trees by growing them in tray pots. It originated in China at least 2,000 years ago. The art form then made its way to Japan and later to other countries.

Over 30 years of involvement in creating bonsai trees, Mr. Ngoc’s health has been improved and his spirit is optimistic.

"In order to create a beautiful work of art, bonsai cultivators must often bend, straighten, shape and prune bonsai trees to give them a more aesthetic appearance and prolong their lives" said Mr. Ngoc.

According to Mr. Ngoc, bonsai cultivators require to have basic knowledge on bonsai cultivation and creation. A beautiful work is formed from long-term care. Therefore, the first tasks such as selecting embryos or determining shape must be carefully implemented.

In recent years, the age of bonsai cultivators has gradually been rejuvenated. Mr. Ngoc said that in addition to their great passion for bonsai trees, young people see economic potential of this interest.

From his father's passion for ornamental plants, Mr. Nguyen Van Chanh, the owner of the Chanh Thien Garden in Xuan Thuy Street, Cam Le District, continues to inherit and develop a prestigious garden house address in the city.

Bonsai not only helps him increase his income to support his family, but also helps generations of family members connect with each other thanks to the same passion.

He hopes that his children will continue to inherit and promote the family's tradition, thereby contributing to creating job opportunities for locals and ensuring local social welfare.

Many bonsai trees have been cared for by Mr. Ngoc for many years.
