Individuals and organizations join efforts to help natural disaster victims in Da Nang
Recent floods triggered by heavy rains and storm SONCA caused loss of life and property damage, making life difficult for people in Da Nang’s affected areas. Therefore, many individuals and organizations inside and outside Da Nang have joined hands with the authorities at all levels to provide timely support for natural disaster victims across the city .

The Da Nang Petrolimex Gas Co., Ltd in collaboration with the Lien Chieu District Chapter of the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee gave 30 cash gifts, each valued at VND 1 million to parents of children at the Tuoi Ngoc Pre-school located in Hoa Minh Ward which was damaged by heavy rainrall lashing the city on October 14.
Mr Le Khanh Thanh, the Deputy Director of the Da Nang Petrolimex Gas Co., Ltd said that the company’s gifts desmontrated its social responsibility towards the local community with the aim of helping the recipients purchase essential items after floods to overcome their difficulties.
In its efforts to support people affected by natural disasters, the Tay Ninh Cao Dai Holy See donated 450 gifts totalling more than VND 135 million to poor people in Hoa Minh and Hoa Khanh Bac wards, Lien Chieu district. According to Mrs Lu Thi Kim Hoa Vice, the Chairwoman of the Lien Chieu District Chapter of the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee, the district received thousands of gifts from organizations, individuals and religious organisations across the country with a total value of billions VND to promptly distribute them to natural disaster victims.
Meanwhile, the Lien Chieu District Chapter of the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee recently collaborated with the Huda brand of Carlsberg Vietnam Breweries Limited, the leading beer brand in the Central region, to donate 300 gifts, each valued at VND 350,000 to local people affected by storm SONCA in Hoa Tho Dong and Hoa An wards. Each gift which included rice, fish sauce, and cooking oil went to help storm victims stabilize their life.
In Hoa Vang district, the Hoa Khuong Commune Chapter of the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee coordinated with the Da Nang Association of Charities and Children's Rights to give 100 gifts, each valued at VND 1 million to local affected families. These gifts were funded by Mrs. Nguyen Phuong Thao from Ho Chi Minh City.
Besides, Venerable Thich Nu Hanh Tam, the Head of the Pho Hien Pagoda visited and gave 5 million VND to the family of Mrs. Le Thi Huong in Go Ha Village, Hoa Khuong Commune as her house’s roof was blown off during typhoon Noru. Meanwhile, the authorities recently worked with Cam Le District’s Hoa An Ward Chapter of the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee to give 129 gifts, each valued at VND 500,000 VND, financed by the local fund ‘For the poor’, to poor and near-poor households to help them get through difficult times caused by natural disasters.
Cam Le District’s Hoa Tho Dong Ward Chapter of the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee presented 20 gifts, each valued at VND 1.5 million VND, which was funded by Venerable Thich Hue Vinh and the Quan The Am (Avalokitecvara) Pagoda located in Ngu Hanh Son District to the needy.
Venerable Thich Hue Vinh, the Head of the Quan The Am Pagoda, said that these gifts came from donations of Buddhist monks, nuns and followers with the aim to join hands with the municipal government to support people facing difficulties due to natural disasters and epidemics that have occurred continuously over recent years.
Mr Duong Dinh Lieu, the Vice Chairman of the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee said that the organisation had received cash donations totalling more than VND 2 billion, hundreds of gifts and necessities from businesses , individuals and religious organizations across the country to support those affected by recent floods.
In the coming time, the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee will continue to call for material and spiritual support from nationwide individuals and organisations to support worst hit areas of the city to help affected people stabilize their life.
After ending the peak month for the poor which lasted from September 17 to October 17, the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee has received more than VND 3.6 billion in cash donations from 160 organizations and individuals across the country.
