The Hoa Vang District Forest Protection Department has just discovered a male red-cheeked gibbon whose scientific name is Nomascus gabriellae in a residential area, Nam Yen Village, Hoa Bac Commune, Hoa Vang District, Da Nang.

This individual gibbon is healthy and about 3kg in weight.

It is known that the red-cheeked gibbon is not distributed in Da Nang. The origin of the animal was unknown, and its owner was not identified.

Upon the arrest, the animal, which is on the list of endangered and rare species, was handed over to the municipal Forest Protection Department to release it back into the wild in accordance with the regulations.
