According to the Viet Nam Provincial Governance and Public Administration Performance Index (PAPI) 2021 PAPI report released by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Viet Nam, Da Nang is among the most desired destinations for Vietnamese migrants with the highest percentage of respondents naming them as their preferred choices.

According to the PAPI 2021 survey, the percentage of respondents saying that they want to migrate permanently out of their localities is 1.6%, much lower than the rate of 6.8% reported in 2020.

The six localities to which many people want to immigrate permanently are Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi, Da Nang, Lam Dong, Can Tho and Binh Duong.

Accordingly, Da Nang ranked third in the list with the rate of surveyed respondents choosing this city at 8.53%, just behind Ho Chi Minh City with 20.56% and Ha Noi with 16.48%.

Meanwhile, Lam Dong, Can Tho and Binh Duong followed the aforementioned trio with 6.16%, 4.03% and 3.93%, respectively.

As revealed by the report, there are three main reasons people choose to migrate to another locality, namely  family reunification (especially for those who want to move to Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City in order of preference); better jobs (Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi and Da Nang); a better natural environment (Da Nang and Lam Dong).
