Da Nang celebrates youth month with meaningful activities

During March, Da Nang's young people are fostering a spirit of volunteerism and creativity to participate in many meaningful activities to celebrate the 92nd founding anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26). Youth union members in volunteer blue shirt are actively getting involved in various community activities. Highlights include environmental protection activities, taking care of and supporting people with meritorious services, plus volunteer activities in border areas.

Fostering a spirit of volunteerism

According to Mr Nguyen Duy Thanh, the Head of the Da Nang Youth Union's Publicity and Education Commission, in celebration of Youth Month 2023, the Municipal Youth Union has collaborated with various partners to line up an array of exciting and enriching activities for its members to partake in. The focus will be on educating youth union members about the glorious traditions of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, supporting young people to start a business, joining hands with the municipal government to boost the city’s international integration, supporting local people to use information technology to conduct administrative procedures, taking care of and supporting disadvantaged young people and children along with people with meritorious services.

In addition, the city's youth will foster a spirit of impulse, volunteerism and creativity to participate in environmental protection and climate change adaptation, establishing a digital archive of historical relics and revolutionary war-zone relics, also known as red addresses, across the city.

Especially, at the launching ceremony of Youth Month 2023, the Da Nang Youth Union awarded 14 children's play areas, 85 speakers and 2 book libraries to affiliated units with a total budget of VND4.4 billion. These activities will take place across the city during March in order to create meaningful opportunities that lead to observable community impact in all aspects of daily life.

One of the meaningful activities done by local youth union members in March is their participation in keeping the environment green, clean and beautiful. The weekend beach cleanup campaign launched by the municipal youth union engages a large number of youth union members in volunteer blue shirt who work enthusiastically to collect trash from the beaches across the city.

Moreover, youth union members and young people in Da Nang actively get involved in reminding local people and tourists to have a sense of environmental protection and not to litter indiscriminately in order to protect the city’s marine environment from pollution.

Most recently, Nguyen Thi To Nhi along with nearly 500 youth union members and young people have participated in a beach cleanup event along the Ho Quy Ly - Nguyen Tat Thanh route in Thanh Khe District.

“I have participated in many beach cleanup events to protect the marine environment and ensure a healthy living environment for all people . Besides, I am also engaged in activities to raise awareness of environmental protection among local people and tourists. I hope that cleaning activities will be regularly organized to ensure a healthy marine environment, contributing to keeping Da Nang’s coastal areas green, clean and beautiful," said To Nhi.

In their efforts to foster impulse and strengths of young people in response to Youth Month, youth union members of Da Nang’s public sector organizations have joined forces with members of Cam Le District Youth Union organization to remove illegal billboards and classified ads on road verges and private property in the district. Special attention has been paid to educating local residents to post classified ads at the correct place in the district in an attempt to raise public awareness of environmental protection to keep their residential areas bright, green, clean, beautiful, civilized and safe.

Furthermore, importance has been attached to performing the digitization of historical documents and artifacts related to revolutionary relics in line with the Da Nang Youth Union developed ‘Digitalising red addresses’ project. Heed will be paid to providing free medical consultation, examination, medicines along with gifts for 300 people in Dien Tien Commune, Dien Ban Town, Quang Nam province in March.

Boosting digital transformation

Grassroots youth unions across Da Nang have been promoting digital transformation in their organizations in addition to educating their members about the glorious history and cultural traditions of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. Highlights include the implementation of the ‘Digitalizing red addresses’ project. The focus will be conducting the digitization of 86 historical relics: 2 special national sites, 17 national-level sites and 67 municipal-level sites, from February until July 2023. Just need a smartphone and scan the QR codes, residents and visitors will get full, detailed and visual information about historical sites across the city.

Apart from doing volunteer activities in Da Nang, local youth union members will be engaged in supporting young people and children in difficult circumstances plus the needy in border areas.

Secretary of the Da Nang Youth Union Nguyen Manh Dung said that Youth Month 2023 aims to foster a spirit of impulse, volunteerism and creativity in young people in order to engage them in promoting the city’s socio-economic development, building a civilized city, contributing to making Da Nang become more civilized and modern.

This year’s youth month themed "Da Nang youth pioneering in digital transformation efforts, will focus on launching practical and effective activities in diverse ways in order to engage a large number of union members and young people to create meaningful experiences for them.
