The ENSURE Centre project will cover a total investment of VND259.3 billion, of which the non-refundable ODA from the Government of the Republic of Korea (RoK) government through the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) is more than VND246.8 billion and the remaining VND12.5 billion is from the Da Nang budget’s reciprocal capital.

With the active support from Daegu City government, since 2016, Da Nang has built project documents for the ENSURE Centre.

On January 16, 2020, the Da Nang government and KOICA signed an agreement to discuss principles of items, scope, size of financial aid and responsibilities among relevant units. The Prime Minister of Viet Nam approved the project implementation policy in Official Letter No. 1262/TTg-QHQT dated September 29, 2021.

Once operational, the ENSURE Centre will be the first role model in Viet Nam with various functions of integration of emergency calls, information sharing between emergency response agencies (police, firefighting, health care, civil service), disaster monitoring through hi-tech systems, and the provision of disaster response scenarios, and training on disaster response.

Through the ENSURE Centre project, Da Nang aims to early recognise and warn of natural disasters, forecast their developments, improve the capacity of its disaster forecast and response, provide timely and accurate information and notifications to the community for active prevention, and promote green urban restoration.

On behalf of the city leaders, Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh thanked Mayor of Daegu Hong Joon Pyo for taking the time to visit Da Nang. He suggested the two sides make every effort to promote the implementation of the Ensure Centre project in Da Nang as soon as possible.

In reply, Daegu Mayor Hong Joon Pyo expressed his thanks to the city's leader for his warm welcome.

He informed that Daegu is currently focusing on developing high-tech industries such as AI, blockchain, and big data which are important industries for the next 50 years.

“The Ensure Centre is a project featuring the convergence of smart technologies. In the future, we will share our city’s smart technologies widely throughout Viet Nam. We will do our best to support Viet Nam, including Da Nang, to develop the field of urban disaster response in the coming time" Mr. Hong Joon Pyo said.
