The Da Nang Department of Transport announced on Wednesday that the Ministry of Transport has just issued a circular amending and supplementing the Ministry of Transport's Circular No. 16 dated August 12, 2021 on technical safety inspection and environmental protection of road motor vehicles.

Starting from March 22, the first registration exemptions are applied for newly manufactured and imported cars within one year from manufacture.

Accordingly, starting from March 22, the first registration exemptions are applied for newly manufactured and imported cars within one year from manufacture.

Eligible vehicles will be issued stamps and certificates at registration centers without being driven to the registration centers.

The newly issued circular also extends registration terms for some types of motor vehicles. That means vehicle owners will have longer time between two inspections.

Specifically, under nine-seater private cars manufactured less than seven years ago without transport business will be required to re-register after 36 months, instead of 30 months as currently regulated.

After the second inspection, the vehicles must undertake an inspection every two years instead of a year and a half currently.

Vehicles manufactured between 7-20 years ago must be inspected every year, while those manufactured more than 20 years must re-register every six months.

Nine-seater passenger cars of all kinds with transport business will have their periodic inspection cycle increased from 18 to 24 months.

Nine-seater passenger cars, manufactured under five years and more than five years, are required to re-register every year and every six months respectively.

Trucks of all kinds and tractors manufactured 20 years or longer ago, plus trucks converted from passenger cars of 15 years old and more, will be required to be re-inspected every six months.

Besides, the new circular adjusts some contents, aiming to simplify procedures, and save costs and time, for people and businesses.
