Western mountains of localities from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien Hue provinces are likely to experience scorching heat starting from March 21 due to the influence of a hot depression from the west combined with foehn wind effect, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

From March 22 - 24, there is a possibility of widespread heat wave with the highest temperature of 35-37oC, and even more than 37oC in some places.

Specifically, extreme temperatures, with the highest temperature hovering at 34-36oC, and even more than 36oC in some parts, are forecast for central localities from Da Nang to Phu Yen Province, and Northern Viet Nam.

Particularly in Da Nang, from March 21 - 24, it will be cloudy, but not raining. The highest temperature is likely to settle at 32-33oC. Starting from March 25, the highest temperature is predicted to drop to 30oC.

Due to the influence of hot sun combined with low humidity in the air and southwesterly winds, there will be a risk of fires and explosions in residential areas, plus forest fires.

Moreover, people can be vulnerable to dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke as they are exposed to high temperatures for a long time.
