More wet and cold weather expected in Da Nang on Monday and Tuesday
A new weather warning has been issued for the parts from Quang Binh to Thua Thien –Hue and Da Nang to Quang Ngai as more cool and wet weather is expected to arrive from Monday, March 13 due to the strong influence of the northeast monsoon.
As per the Mid-Central Region Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, mostly sunny will give way to variably cloudy conditions and widespread showers with localized moderate and heavy rainfall along with a chance of isolated thunderstorms favouring the parts from Quang Binh to Phu Yen, including Da Nang. Thunderstorms can produce tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds, regional forecasters have warned.
Cold temperatures are expected to strike the parts from Quang Binh to Thua Thien- Hue as the minimum temperature is predicted to drop to 16 to 19 degrees Celsius, even 14 to 16 degrees Celsius in their mountainous areas. The northeast monsoon will also see temperatures plummet in the parts from Da Nang to Quang Ngai, with temperatures expected to range from 18 to 20 degrees Celsius. The coolest temperatures are in the early morning and at night across these areas.
The unsettled weather is set to continue into Tuesday, March 14, regional forecasters have indicated.
Strong northeasterly winds at levels 6 to 7, and gustiness of levels 8 to 9, as well as rough seas with waves as high as 2-4m are in forecast for the Hoang Sa Islands while the open waters off the Quang Tri - Quang Ngai coast, including Da Nang, could continue to experience strong northeasterly winds at level 6, and the gusts reaching level 7, as well rough seas with waves as high 2-3m.
Today will be cool, cloudy, with a chance for showers for the northern part from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue while localized moderate to heavy downpours with thunderstorm chance are likely across the southern part. Maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to hover around 20-23 degrees Celsius, even above 23 degrees Celsius in some places while minimum temperature will be in the range of 14-17 degrees Celsius, and 16-19 degrees Celsius in the northern and southern parts, respectively.
Scattered showers and the potential for thunderstorms with localized moderate to heavy rainfall are expected throughout the day today across the parts from Da Nang to Binh Thuan. By the coastal areas they will see high winds at levels 4 to 5, and gustiness of level 6, while farther inland you could find gradually increasing northeasterly wind at level 3. Temperatures in these areas can expect lows of 20 to 23 degrees Celsius, and highs of 26 to 29 degrees Celsius, and even above 29 degrees Celsius at isolated places in the southern part.
