On Wednesday, the Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and Environment released a plan to implement a project on promoting waste sorting at source and Reduce - Reuse- Recycle (3R) programmes in the city at the second phase.

Funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the project is carried out from February 2023 to March 2024.

Accordingly, the focus is on piloting the project in Thach Thang, Thuan Phuoc, Nam Duong and Hoa Thuan Tay wards in Hai Chau District, and Thanh Khe Tay, Hoa Khe and Chinh Gian wards in Thanh Khe District.

The second phase of the project will continue supporting the 3R model by donating garbage hand carts to collect recyclables, organising recycling programmes, developing a pilot model of food waste collection (waste food, leftovers and used cooking oil), and building Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) associated with a battery house.
