Response to climate change needs to be at the centre
In Da Nang, the national Department of Climate Change under the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment coordinated with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to hold a meeting to guide the implementation of the provisions of the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 on response to climate change. The event attracted the participation of representatives of State management agencies, socio-political organisations in centrally-run provinces and cities.

As reported by the leader of the national Department of Climate Change said that, in the face of climate change trends and the new global context, the response to any change in the country must move to a new stage, which should be placed at the centre to prevent climate change.
The move helps to head towards global goals as well as promoting the building of a green, circular and environmentally-friendly economy, contributing to achieving the ambitious target of turning Viet Nam into developed nation with high income and full and harmonious socialist-oriented market economy institutions by 2045.
Relevant agencies and localities nationwide need put the regulations on responding to climate change as prescribed in the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 into life so as to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of State management on climate change mitigation. This is an important legal basis on which Viet Nam fulfills its commitments on responding to climate change with the international community.
Also at the event, managers, scientists and experts provided knowledge and guidance on implementing regulations and work related to carbon market development, the management of substances that deplete the ozone layer, as well as the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
