According to Mrs. Thi, the two projects totalling more than VND 1,578 billion have been delayed for many years owing to many different reasons, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Specifically, more than VND788 billion worth of funding from the city budget is spent on the Da Nang Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital upgrade project. Once upgraded, the 14-storey hospital will feature 399 beds, and external technical infrastructure and related medical equipment.

Meanwhile, the project 'Renovating and supplementing equipment at the Da Nang Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital’ costs over VND790 billion.

Under the project, existing blocks A, B, C, D, E, F and a bridge house will be upgraded, whilst the fire prevention and fighting system will be installed.

The damaged and degraded floors, ceiling, tiles, and architectural items will be replaced by new ones, and synchronous construction and medical equipment will be installed.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasised that these were two of the city’s key health projects which were approved by the municipal People’s Council in 2020.

She urged relevant agencies to speed up the progress of the projects, as well as promptly solve the pressing problems raised by local residents.

Mrs. Thi also urged construction units to minimise the impact of the projects on households and patients, especially infants, as well as ensure labor safety, and fire prevention and fighting.
