Prolonged heatwave raises forest fire risk in Da Nang
The Da Nang Forest Protection Department on Wednesday issued a warning about the risk of forest fires at alarming level 3 as the city experienced dry spell with more than 15 days of no rain.
Faced with the above situation, the Department is urging authorities at local level to closely monitor the implementation of forest fire prevention and fighting measures, strictly prohibiting the use of fire to treat vegetation.
Forest rangers and forest management boards are asked to promptly inform forest fire forecasts to agencies, units and communities in forested areas prepare, human resources and tools for forest fire fighting, and promptly report the situation of forest fires to the district authorities and the Forest Protection Department.
At the same time, the functional forces are tasked to strengthen supervision and inspection of forest owners in the observance of regulations on forest fire prevention and fighting. Heed should be on coordinating with the management board of eco-tourism areas to monitor and remind visitors to ensure the safety in using fire when visiting and traveling in the forest, and strictly handling violations of forest fire prevention and fighting.
