Excessive heat warning remains in effect for Central Viet Nam, including Da Nang
The Northeast region of Viet Nam is still under heat advisory as the scorching temperatures are currently baking the region, according to Viet Nam’s National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.
As per the national weather service, the region will sizzle on Monday as the mercury may rise above 39 degrees Celsius at isolated locations, with 36 to 39 degrees Celsius expected across this area. Lowest humidity is likely to record at 40-60%. However, the region will experience milder conditions from tomorrow, May 23.
Meanwhile, excessive heat warning remains in effect for the Northwest region and the parts from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen, including Da Nang, as warmer than normal temperatures are expected through Monday, May 22. A brutal heatwave has been sweeping these areas, with the maximum temperature reaching 37-40 degrees Celsius, and even upper 40 degrees Celsius at isolated localitions. The average humidity level in these areas will be between 35% and 55%.
From Tuesday, May 23, temperatures are forecast to stay high in the Northwest region and the parts from Nghe An to Phu Yen, including Da Nang. The maximum temperatures are likely to be in the range of 35-38 degree Celsius across these areas, and even above 39 degrees Celsius in some places. Lowest humidity is likely to record at 40-65%.
On Monday, severe heatwave conditions are likely to prevail over the parts from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue while showers and thunderstorms are predicted at isolated places during the late afternoon and night hours. The Southwest Wind at levels 2 to 3 could reach these areas. Maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to hover around 37-40 degrees Celsius, even upper 40 degrees Celsius in some places while minimum temperature will be in the range of 26-29 degrees Celsius.
The searing heat continues to bake the parts from Da Nang to Binh Thuan today with scattered chances for showers and thunderstorms during late afternoon and night hours in the southern part of the region. These areas could experience the Southwest Wind at levels 2 to 3.Temperatures in these areas can expect lows of 25 to 28 degrees Celsius and highs of 36 to 39 degrees Celsius, even above 39 degrees Celsius at isolated places.
Thunderstorms can produce tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds in the warning areas, national forecasters has warned.
The heat wave will bring life-threatening conditions to many people working outdoors. Anyone outdoors during the hottest times of the day will need to drink plenty of fluids, and take breaks from strenuous activities to lower the risk for heat-related illnesses.
Older people, those with underlying health conditions, and very young children are all more at risk from the higher temperatures. They will be at the highest risk for heatstroke or heat exhaustion, and should stay in air-conditioned locations when possible.
