During the national week on natural disaster response and mitigation in 2023, from 15 to May 22 with the theme ‘From response to early action’, many activities are taking place around Viet Nam to enhance information, communication, and community capacity building; raise the spirit and responsibility of all-levelled agencies in natural disaster response and mitigation; map out plans to respond to natural disasters and highligh the role and responsibilities in the year during which Viet Nam serves as the Chair of the ASEAN Disaster Management Committee.`

According to the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, a wide range of response activities suitable to local and actual conditions, along with situations in response to the national week on natural disaster response and mitigation are underway, taking such noticeable themes such as: ‘From response to action’, ‘Early action, timely response in natural disaster resilience so that no one is left behind’ and ‘Early action based on warnings to reduce disaster risks’.

In addition, heed will be paid to taking measures to improve safety for the system of natural disaster mitigation works, completing the plan for prevention and remediation of consequences for a number of natural disaster scenarios in 2023, organising the implementation of the project ‘Building a safe city during natural disasters in the 2022 – 2030 period, with a vision towards 2045’.
