Mr. Thu said that nearly VND 40 million were raised from residents of 14 villages across the commune just over a month after launching the campaign "donating VND 10,000 shows a thousand love for the poor”. The money raised went to support 109 needy students from grades 1 to 12, of whom, 86 come from poor households and 23 others living in extreme poverty, thereby helping them buy learning tools to prepare for their new school year.

Furthermore, Mr. Thu made great efforts to call on local people to donate VND 20 million in total in response to a campaign launched by the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee to raise funds for building houses for the poor in Dien Bien Province and some areas in Northwest Viet Nam. In addition, he regularly encourages public participation in cleanup operations, household waste classification, and proper disposal of carcasses on Sundays in order to keep their residential areas, and their villages as a whole, clean and beautiful. Heed was also paid to regularly asking trading households not to encroach on sidewalks and roadways by not putting their items on it.

Since 2023, a combined total of more than VND 229 million has been raised for the Fund For the Poor. The money raised has been used to buid1 new house, repair 5 others, support the livelihoods of 5 poor households in the locality, and more. Moreover, importance has been attached to launching public education campaigns about patriotism, caring for people with meritorious services, and organizing incense burning at the local martyrs' cemetery on the fourteenth and thirtieth dates of the lunar month.

Mrs. Phan Thi Thu Hong, the Secretary of the Party Organisation of Hoa Nhon Commune, said that despite his old age, Mr Nguyen Dinh Thu still tries his utmost to give back to the poor and disadvantaged students. He sets a shining example of love and compassion for others to follow in order to encourage more people to do the same thing as him to help those living in poverty build a better life.
