Supporting poor students to achieve their dreams

Ahead for the new academic year, Da Nang’s Trade Union organizations at all levels have provided practical support to students who are from low-income working families to motivate them to study well and achieve good academic performance .

"Sharing and Connecting" Summer

The scholarships award ceremony to honour children of employees who achieved excellent academic performance over the last academic year was the highlight of practical ways to support them achieve their goals and dreams. The Da Nang Labour Confederation awarded scholarships valued at VND 1 million each to 156 students who achieved excellent academic performance and claimed top prizes in competitions for excellent students at the national and municipal levels. In addition, scholarships worth VND 500,000 each were also presented to 188 poor studious pupils.

Furthermore, yearly interest on savings accounts were given to 3 poor children whose father or mother died due to COVID-19. Accordingly, they received gifts valued at VND 1 million each, including yearly interest on their savings accounts and financial aid from the Da Nang Labour Confederation. Currently, the Municipal Labour Confederation is managing their savings accounts valued at VND 10 million each, and their savings will be under direct management by themselves when they reach the age of 18.

In its efforts to help the children of employees across the city have a summer full of memories, the Da Nang Labour Confederation hosted the "Sharing and Connecting" festival on August 15 and 16 at the Thanh Binh Trade Union Hotel and some locations in the city. The two-day event attracted nearly 100 students across the city, and it provided the opportunity for the participants to meet new people and make friends, and get along better with others, develop confidence, independence and creativity in them, as well as develop and improve their social skills.

Dang Ha Anh Thu, a ninth-grader of Nguyen Luong Bang Junior High School expressed her strong interest in participating in the festival. "We were taught to patriotism, family love, and sharing and connection, survival skills, and self-care skills while participating in the festival”, Thu remarked.

Motivating students to study hard for bright future

The Trade Union Organization of the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Parks has granted scholarships to 107 students who are children of trade union members and labourers to honor prize winners in the municipal -level competitions for excellent students over the last academic year. Moreover, 15 cash gifts worth VND 700,000 have been given to children from poor working families.

 “I am very happy to attend the scholarship award ceremony organized by the Trade Union organization of the Da Nang Hi-Tech Parks and Industrial Parks. The scholarship will be a source of motivation for us to study harder for a bright future,” said excitedly Nguyen Ha Minh Thu, a ninth-grader of Nguyen Thai Binh Junior High School,.

Besides, the Trade Union organization of the city's education sector has also honoured 107 students who won top prizes in city-level competitions for excellent students, and has given gifts to 73 children of trade union members living under difficult circumstances. It can be seen that the protection, caring and education of children are important tasks of Da Nang’s Trade Union organizations at all levels during their implementation of the population, family and children program through providing disadvantaged children with practical support.
