Vallet scholarships were granted to students with excellent academic achievements, ethnic minorities or in particularly difficult circumstances.

The event was jointly organised by the Da Nang Department of Education and Training, the Rencontres du Viet Nam (Meeting Viet Nam) and the Vallet Scholarship Executive Board at the Nguyen Khuyen Junior and Senior High School in Cam Le District.

Students in Da Nang and the provinces of Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh and Phu Yen received the scholarships on this occasion. Each student and pupil was granted with a scholarship of VND28 million and VND14 million, respectively. The total value of the Vallet scholarships this year in Da Nang was VND 3.92 billion.

Established in 2001, the organisation’s Vallet Scholarship Fund has been sponsored by Prof. Odon Vallet from France’s Sorbonne University.

Professor Odon Vallet deposited his inheritance in the bank and used the savings to award scholarships to outstanding students in Viet Nam and Africa through the introduction of the Rencontres du Viet Nam founded by Prof. Tran Thanh Van and Prof. Le Kim Ngoc.

As of 2022, over 50,000 Vallet scholarships worth a total value of more than VND 400 billion had been granted to eligible pupils and students. In particular, the level of scholarships has climbed steadily each year in both quantity and value.
