Each year, the Thanh Khe District Chapter of the Da Nang Study Promotion Association calls on benevolent persons across the district, including employees of government agencies and businesses based in the district to provide stable and long-term financial aid for students living in poverty.

Mr Nguyen Van Phuoc, the Chairman of the Thanh Khe District Chapter, said that the money raised was used to award scholarships totaling VND 104 million to 159 poor orphans, and poor studious students in early August. In addition, practical support was provided to local disadvantaged students to help them continue their studies and make their dreams come true.

In a similar move, Hai Chau District’s Hoa Cuong Bac Ward has recently honoured  64 students who won top prizes in municipal and national competitions for excellent students, and awarded scholarships worth 26 million in total to them. Moreover, 64 scholarships totaling VND 104 million were given to school pupils and college students living in poverty. The intention is to motivate disadvantaged students to study hard for a bright future, and reduce dropout rates among disadvantaged students in the ward.

In Ngu Hanh Son District, scholarships worth more than VND 418 million in total will be given to 145 disadvantaged students in the district in mid-September with the funding raised from local donors. The scholarships can be considered to be a meaningful gift for them to enter their new school year in an effort to encourage them to show their best academic performance.

According to the Da Nang Study Promotion Association, since the beginning of 2023, the campaign to include every child in education which aims to improve the lives of disadvantaged and vulnerable children, as well as help them continue their studies and achieve their dreams has drew a great attention from a large number of agencies, units, organizations and individuals across the city. They have joined forces to implement long-term and short-term scholarship programs to help disadvantaged students overcome financial barriers to make their dreams come true. Included are the "Nurturing Dreams" program financed by the Minh Tran Scholarship Fund with the aim of helping students living under difficult circumstances complete their university education, Dinh Thien Ly Community Support program, and scholarship program for school pupils launched by the Da Nang Branch of the State Bank of Viet Nam with the funding from Eximbank and HD Bank. Furthermore, Imexpharm Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company donated VND 200 million to the Da Nang Study Promotion Fund, and Buddhist nun Thich Nu Thanh Que with VND 80 million in cash donations, and more.

To mark the start of the 2023-2024 academic year, study promotion associations at all levels across Da Nang have been active in calling for funds to help poor students. This meaningful activity not only contributes to showing mutual support and help, and spread love and kindness in our communities, but also helps poor students get ready to conquer their new school year with peace of mind.

Mr Nguyen Minh Hung, the Chairman of the Da Nang Study Promotion Association, said a combined total of VND 330 million has been spent on granting scholarships to 75 students and 50 students living in poverty to help them excel in their studies since the beginning of 2023.
