Various activities for Da Nang children on Mid-Autumn Festival

Social organisations and units across Da Nang launched various activities last weekend to ensure that local children, especially disadvantaged ones, can enjoy a warm and fun Mid-Autumn Festival.

On Sunday evening, the municipal Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs coordinated with the Association of Charities and Children's Rights Protection and the Son Tra District People's Committee to organise the ‘Full Moon Festival’ programme, attracting 300 local children.

Speaking at the programme, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong informed that the city leaders, authorities, and organisations at all levels have always paid attention to the effective implementation of child protection, care and education programmes and policies over the past time. Included are monthly allowances and gifts for children in special circumstances, free surgery for poor children with heart congenital failure, and tuition exemption policy.

Mr. Cuong sent wishes to teenagers and children to have a happy, warm, and love-filled Mid-Autumn Festival. He also hoped that children will always do their best to become good children and pupils and achieve impressive academic results.

The programme featured many attractive musical performances, a puppet show themed ‘The Legend of Banyan Tree and Moon Boy’, and magic and lion dance performances.

On the occasion, the Da Nang People’s Committee awarded 40 scholarships, worth VND1 million each, to children who overcome difficulties to study well.

Also on Sunday, the Trade Union and Youth Union organisations of the Da Nang Management Board of Priority Infrastructure Investment Projects visited and gave gifts to children at the Da Nang Street Children's Protection Center - Family No.3 in An Hai Dong Ward, Son Tra District.

During the visit, the organisers presented 30 gifts of lanterns and candies to encourage and motivate the children to overcome immediate difficulties to reap good academic results and make useful contributions to society.

On the afternoon of September 24, the Trade Union organisation of the Da Nang High-Tech Park and Industrial Parks in collaboration with the Son Tra District’s Labour Federation hosted the programme ‘Full Moon Festival’ in 2023 for children of trade union members and workers with difficult circumstances who are working in industrial parks and in Son Tra District.

The programme aimed to strengthen children's care activities, as well as raise awareness and responsibility of organisations and businesses in exercising children's rights, and creating a safe and healthy playground for children.

To mark this occasion, 660 gifts, valued at VND500,000 each, from the Da Nang Labour Confederation, along with 150 gifts, worth VND300,000 each, from the Trade Union organisation of Da Nang High-Tech Park and Industrial Parks, were given to children of trade union members and workers in difficult circumstances.

On the same day, the Ngu Hanh Son District People's Committee coordinated with the district’s Labour Federation donated gifts, worth VND500,000 each, to 250 poor local children.
