Flood warning issued for the parts from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai, including Da Nang, with river levels on the rise
A flood warning has been issued for much of Central Viet Nam as river levels continue to rise due to persistent torrential rains.

The water level in the Bo River in Thua Thien- Hue has reached alert level 1 while that in other rivers in the parts from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai, including Da Nang, has not yet reached the alert level 1 threshold, Viet Nam’s National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF) said in a bulletin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday.
NCHMF has issued flood warnings for rivers in the parts from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai, including Da Nang, from Monday until Wednesday, October 18 as these rivers could face flood risk with floodwater expected to peak from 2-6m at their upstream areas, and 1-3m at their downstream areas. The water level in rivers in Quang Binh and Quang Tri is likely to reach its peak to reach alarm level 1 and above while that in rivers in the parts from Thua Thien- Hue to Quang Ngai, including Da Nang, is expected to reach alarm levels 2 to 3, and above.
Forecasters have also issued warnings of flash floods and landslides for mountainous areas, and localized flooding alerts are in place in low-lying and riverside areas along with urban areas in parts from from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai, including Da Nang.
NCHMF has placed the parts from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai, including Da Nang, under flood alert levels l, 2 and 4.
River floods triggered by heavy rainfall can cause flooding in low-lying and riverside areas, damage fish farming, agricultural production, as well as have a negative effect on the environment and local socio-economic activities, and threaten the livelihoods of people living in vulnerable areas.
