Regional weather service forcasts 4-day wet spell for mid-central region, inluding Da Nang

Parts from Quang Binh to Quang Nam, including Da Nang, are all set to witness another wet spell with the Mid-Central Region Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting predicting moderate to heavy rain with isolated extremely heavy fallls and thunderstorm chance in these areas from Sunday night, October 29.

Heading into Tuesday, October 31, rainfalls of 70mm and 150 mm are forcast for Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces with even over 150mm expected to dump at isolated localtions. As much as 100-250mm of rain could fall over the parts from Thua Thien- Hue to Quang Ngai, including Da Nang, and even more than 300mm in some places.

Soaking rain is expected to continue across the Mid-central region through Thursday, November 2, after which, the rainfall activity is predicted to decrease from Friday, November 3, regional forecasters have said.

From Tuesday night, October 31 till Thursday, November 2, residents in Mid-central region are being warned to brace for moderate to heavy rain with localised very heavy downpours and thunderstorms. During the forecast period, the total rainfall amount is expected to reach 20mm to 50mm in common over Quang Binh and Quang Tri Provinces, and even over 80mm possible at isolated places. Parts from Thua Thien- Hue to Quang Ngai, including Da Nang, could receive between 70mm and 150mm of rain with more than 200mm possible in some places.

The rain is expected to taper off across the Mid-central region from Friday, November 3.

Regional weather forecasters have also issued warnings of flash floods and landslides for mountainous areas, and localized flooding alerts are in place in low-lying and urban areas. The warning covers the parts from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai, including Da Nang.

The regional weather service is urging authorities in affected areas to take appropriate precautionary measures to cope with floods, flash floods, landslides brought by heavy downpours, in order to minimise losses owing to heavy rain.

Residents in Mid-central region, including Da Nang, are advised to take all the steps to protect themselves and their property during heavy rains.
