On Saturday, a team to capture free-roaming dogs and cats made its debut in Chinh Gian Ward, Thanh Khe District. This is the first of its kind in Da Nang.

The team, consisting of 12 members, takes responsibility for implementing measures to manage dog and cat breeding; detecting and punishing the dog and cat's owner for violating regulations regarding pets in public places; and preventing the risk of dog attacks and curb rabies.

The specific handling process includes the organisation of inspection visits and arrest of free-roaming dogs and cats, dogs wandering without a leash and muzzle, and dogs suspected of having rabies on roads in the ward.

Anti-rabies vaccination for dogs and cats will be enforced during the prescribed vaccination time. Free-roaming dogs and cats will be temporarily kept at the ward's location during 24-hour detention.

Within 24 hours from the time of notification, the pet owners must go to the ward People's Committee to reclaim the dog or cat. The Ward People's Committee handles administrative violations against pet owners regarding violations related to the management of pet dogs and cats.

In case the pet owner does not come to reclaim the pet after 24 hours from the time of notification, the Ward People's Committee will take the dog or cat to the city's free-roaming dog and cat breeding area.
