The Mid-Central Region Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting has issued a widespread soaking rainfall warning for the parts from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai, including Da Nang, due to the combined influence of the upper tropospheric continental cold air mass and the easterly winds, from Friday night till next Monday, November 27.

As much as 70mm-150mm of rain could fall in Quang Binh and Quang Tri, and even more than 200mm at isolated locations.

Thua Thien- Hue Province could receive between 150mm and 300mm of rain with more than 400mm possible in some places.

The parts from Da Nang to Quang Ngai are being warned to brace for heavy rain, with rainfalls of 100-250mm, and even more than 300mm at isolated locations.

In particular, heavy rainfall of 100mm - 200mm is predicted in common in Da Nang with more than 300mm of rain expected to dump in some places.

The regional weather service says that flash flooding is expected in low-lying and urban areas, with the potential for landslides in mountainous areas, due to torrential downpours.

Forecasters are urging authorities in affected areas to take appropriate precautionary measures to cope with floods, flash floods, landslides brought by heavy downpours, in order to minimize losses owing to heavy rain.
