Da Nang Hospital granted ISO certification
The Da Nang Hospital held a ceremony on Wednesday to receive ISO 15189:2012 certification for 3 departments of biochemical testing, hematology - blood transfusion, and microbiology.
ISO 15189 is an international standard that specifies the requirements for quality and competence in medical lab environments.
This is the first medical laboratory practice standard to be uniformly applied worldwide, aiming to enable laboratories to operate effectively to meet the needs of patients and safety standards during testing as well.
This international standard is based upon ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 9001. In addition, it adds specific requirements for quality assurance in the field of medical testing.
ISO15189 includes 15 management requirements and 10 technical requirements to ensure quality in testing activities.
The management of test quality according to ISO 15189:2012 standard helps ensure the provision of quick and accurate test results, providing a reliable basis for doctors when giving the most effective treatment methods for patients. This contributes to improving the quality of medical examinations and treatment at the Da Nang Hospital, as well as minimising the error rate, and shortening the time waiting for results.
ISO 15189:2012 is also the basis for promoting the transfer of test results between medical facilities. Patients do not need to take the test again when transferring to another hospital or even when consulting with other countries. This helps save costs, shorten time and provide high-quality testing services to patients.
