Although the number of tourists and people swimming at the beach at this time is only 50% compared to the summer, a total of 95 employees from the Da Nang tourist beach rescue team, divided into 20 teams, still operate regularly every day from 5:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Mr. Duong Van Be, a rescue worker from team No. 7, the Da Nang Tourist Beach Rescue Team, said that every day, rescue workers will place red flags and place warning sign at notice areas where swimming is not allowed depending on the current.

Since September, strong currents and large waves have appeared a lot, especially offshore currents accounting for 70%. Therefore, rescue workers not only stayed on shore to observe, but at times also have to go into the sea to respond promptly. At the same time, rescue workers set up ropes to limit people’s swimming area to about 100 meters from the shore, ensuring the highest safety for local residents and tourists.

It is known that the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches requires rescue teams to regularly monitor weather developments, guide tourists to swim in safe areas, install warning signs in areas where there are no lifeguards on duty, publicise on coastal loudspeaker systems, social networking sites about rescue duty times and beach rules.

The Management Board actively coordinates with coastal projects in rescue work and ensuring safety for tourists in areas before the project, coordinates with accommodation establishments to provide information and instructions on safe swimming for tourists.

In addition, the Management Board signed a regulation to coordinate with functional forces in coastal localities, police forces, border guards and the city’s mobile police battalions to regularly deploy troops.

On duty, interdisciplinary patrols restore security and order and directly handle difficulties arising in the area such as promptly preventing the situation of soliciting customers and street vendors in roadside and dining areas, littering on the beach, strongly handling the situation of renting and using candy speakers after 10 p.m. or theft of property from tourists at the beach.

Mr. Phan Minh Hai, the Deputy Head of the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches, said that from September onwards, it will enter the low season for tourists at the beaches.

The weather often has continuous heavy rains, leading to a large amount of duckweed and garbage washing up on the beaches, especially on Nguyen Tat Thanh coastal route. Every year, the Management Board proactively plans to overcome environmental problems after natural disasters, storms and floods.

Immediately, after the storms passed, the Management Board quickly deployed all forces to overcome the consequences, coordinating with beach cleaning units, prioritising public areas and in front of beaches, avoiding trash-caused environmental pollution, quickly making beaches clean and beautiful so as to serve residents and tourists.

At the same time, the Management Board joined hands with relevant agencies in protecting the marine environment on media channels, coordinating with coastal districts, the Da Nang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company, and functional forces in the city as well as environmental groups and clubs to ensure beach environmental sanitation.

Recently, on December 3, the River and Sea Environment Enterprise under the Da Nang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company mobilised all workers and motor vehicles to clean and collect garbage, especially maintaining regular cleaning of the main beaches along Vo Nguyen Giap and Nguyen Tat Thanh streets such as beaches 1, 2, 3, My Khe, Ha Khe to serve residents and tourists.

Since the beginning of the 2023 rainy season until now, the enterprise has collected nearly 1,200 tons of trash dumped on beaches, contributing to ensuring the landscape and tourism environment, coordinating with the Son Tra Peninsula Management Board and Tourism beaches to ensure a green - clean - beautiful sea tourism environment in service for residents and tourists.
