The direction was made by Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum People’s Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet at the Friday conference to summarise 15 years of implementing Resolution No. 20 on continuing to build the Vietnamese working class in the period of accelerating national industrialisation and modernisation.

In his closing speech at the event, Deputy Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet highly appreciated party committees, party organisations, authorities, agencies, units and localities for good implementation of the resolution, He also pointed out some shortcomings and limitations, and emphasised some solutions for the future implementation.

The city leader proposed focusing on establishing grassroots trade unions and recruiting new union members; as well as reviewing businesses that have the ability to develop trade unions.

At the same time, heed should be on strengthening and improving the quality of grassroots trade unions; building core forces in the worker and labor force; and carrying out the "Union member welfare" programme to attract workers and laborers to join trade union organisations.

He stressed the need for relevant agencies to address the accommodation need of workers, and call for socialization capital to build kindergartens for workers’ children.

Labor disputes need to be resolved early and remotely. It is necessary to strengthen inspection and handle problems regarding health insurance, social insurance, and unemployment insurance issues, Mr. Triet noted.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ho Ky Minh requested all levels of party committees, authorities, socio-political organisations, and sectors to improve high level of education and professional skills for workers. The purpose was to provide the city with a team of workers with educational qualifications, expertise, vocational skills, and the ability to absorb quickly and master new science and technology, thereby improving labour productivity, and the efficiency of production and business activities.

Importance should be attached to upgrading and improving the operational efficiency of the system of grassroots cultural institutions at localities, as well as strengthening the implementation of cultural and sports activities for workers in industrial parks and densely populated areas, he emphasised.
