Kindhearted meals for poor patients in Da Nang
For over a year, officers and men of the Phu Loc Border Guard Station have joined efforts with police officers of Thanh Khe Dong Ward, Thanh Khe District, Da Nang, to bring ‘Kindhearted Meals’ to patients at the Da Nang Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital. The intention was to feed patients and their family caregivers, as well as ease the financial burden on them.

On November 20, many patients at the Da Nang Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital expressed joy upon receiving free meals from the officers and soldiers of Phu Loc Border Guard Station and Thanh Khe Dong Police. Each meal included fish or meat, vegetables, soup, and drinks, providing both nourishment and smiles to the patients.
A female patient, expressed her gratitude to kindhearted military and police personnel: "This is the second time in this month I have received such a thoughtful meal. The food is not only delicious and nutritious, but it also brings warmth and encouragement to me, thereby giving me extra strength to overcome my physical pain and stay motivated during my recovery exercises."
Another male patient who is undergoing rehabilitation at this hospital, expressed his sincere gratitude for the free meals he has received from local border guards and police officers. "Being hospitalized for a long time, especially during extended treatments, can be quite costly. The free meals offered by the border guards and police officers bring us a taste of home, and remind us that we are not alone in the journey of recovery. We are truly grateful for their kindness and generosity.”, he said.
Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Xuan Tien, the Secretary of the Phu Loc Border Guard Station’s Youth Union Organization, shared that understanding the difficulties faced by poor patients in Da Nang-based hospitals, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic, the Phu Loc Border Guard Station and Thanh Khe Dong Ward Police Station have worked together to implement the "Kindhearted Meals" program, aiming to support poor patients at the Da Nang Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital.
Youth Union members of the two units not only contribute a portion of their monthly salary to this charity program but they are also active in calling for cash donation and participating in cooking activities to provide free meals to poor patients. Their program provides about 150-200 free meals and drinks to poor patients every two weeks.
According to Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Xuan Tien, the more meals offered to poor patients, the greater the joy and motivation for the Youth Union members of the two units to continue their meaningful program.
Lieutenant Dinh Ngoc Minh Son, from the Phu Loc Border Guard Station, highlighted the significant humanitarian impact of the ‘ Kindhearted Meals’ program over the past year. This charity program promotes the spirit of solidarity and extending support to those most in need, as well as share the burdens of others. It also helps promote the noble virtues of Uncle Ho's soldiers, and Vietnamese people's police officers, as well as uphold their role as pillars of support in their local communities.
The Youth Union members of the two units hoped for more benevolent persons to join hands with them to implement the ‘Kindhearted Meals’ program.
