Over recent years, Da Nang’s Hoa Vang District has gained positive results from the Piggy Bank campaign to improve the living conditions of poor local families.
The money raised via this campaign has gone to help hundreds of poor families and poor single people overcome their financial difficulties, provide livelihood support, build new houses, as well as support the education of their children. The program's impact extends beyond mere savings, thereby contributing to improving living conditions of local poor people, and lifting many families out of poverty.
Mr. Bui Truc, the Head of the Phu Hoa 1 Village, said that the campaign has been launched in the village for nearly 10 years. Accordingly, each party member in the village has built one piggy bank, and contributed a minimum of VND 365,000 per year to the campaign to help the poor. Especially, many people have put money aside for savings in a bid to contribute at least VND 1-2 million per person every year to the campaign.
Mr. Nguyen Duy Phuong, the Vice Chairman of the Hoa Son Communal People’s Committee, said a combined total of 2,500 piggy banks have been built in the commune since 2014, and around VND 400 million have been raised via these piggy banks.
He added that the money raised via the campaign has been used to support many poor households to overcome their financial difficulties, provide livelihood support, and repair their downgraded houses, as well as grant scholarships to poor studious pupils.
Mr. Bui Nam Dung, the Chairman of the Hoa Vang District Chapter of the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee remarked that his organization will continue its efforts to raise funds for the poor and promote the Piggy Bank campaign in an attempt to ensure effective implementation of the city’s social welfare policy, and support the poor.
Also, the district aims to raise over 12 billion VND for its Fund for the poor during the 2019-2024 period to support local poor households.
