The Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union held a ceremony in Da Nang on Sunday to launch the "Proud of a strip of mountains and rivers" campaign.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, First Secretary of the Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Bui Quang Huy said that the campaign focused on hanging a paper map of Viet Nam in agencies, offices, classrooms, common rooms of Youth Union organisations at all levels and children at home and abroad with the hope that the image of the entire country's territory can often be seen in places of learning, working and community activities. Thus, each individual who sees a miniature image of the country becomes more aware of the territorial integrity of Viet Nam, thereby igniting in our hearts the responsibility to protect the sovereignty of the homeland.

With the hanging of the map, many Youth Union officials and members will better understand the country's geographical indications, and sites associated with the nation's thousands-year history of national building and defending.

The Central Committee Secretariat hoped that that the campaign will spread widely among Youth Union members and young people at home and abroad, he added.

Aside from hanging paper maps at places of work and study, 3D digital maps on smart phones are created by the application of AR augmented reality technology. The activity aims to respond to the theme of the Youth Union's movement in 2023 "Year of digital transformation for Youth Union's activities".

Thanks to this, users can interact directly with a realistic and lively feeling, as well as send messages about the campaign on social networking platforms.

At the launching ceremony, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union presented 20 maps in frames A1 to representatives of fishermen, border guards, workers, teachers, students and children.

Besides, 50,000 A0-sized maps were given to affiliated youth unions, and 5,000 A0-sized maps were donated to the Da Nang Youth Union.

After the launching ceremony, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union visited, and presented gifts and maps, to the families of heroic Vietnamese mothers, some classrooms of the Phan Chau Trinh Senior High School, the boarding house for young workers, and families of the Co Tu ethnic group.

Moreover, paper maps of Viet Nam were donated to the Hoang Sa Museum and the Da Nang Children's Palace.
