According to Mrs. Nguyen Thi Loi, the Head of the Women's Union organization of the Nai Hung 2A residential area, initiated almost a year ago by the Da Nang Women's Union, this charity program aims to offer monthly 100 nutritious breakfasts, including bread, rice rolls, soup and milk to the street sellers of lottery tickets, motorcycle taxi and cyclo drivers, household scrap buyers, street vendors, the elderly, single people, school pupils, and others on the 1st and 15th dates of every lunar month.
“There are many lonely seniors and sick older persons in this residential area. Therefore, the Women's Union organization has gone door to door to offer 20 meals to sick older persons who are unable to come to receive, as well as provided 80 others on-site to those in need. The act seems small, but it brings a great source of motivation and happiness to the program’s organizers and benefactors. In the coming time, we hope for more support from individuals and organizations in order to allow us to double or triple the meals to offer them to poor people, " Mrs. Loi cheerfully shared.
Furthermore, the Nai Hung 2A residential area has worked with the charity kitchen to provide free lunch for 100 disadvantaged people on the 1st and 15th dates of every lunar month. Similar to the Charity Breakfast program, 80 meals are provided on-site to those in need, and 20 others are delivered at home to those who cannot come to receive. Therefore, regardless of the weather conditions, Mrs. Loi along with other members of the organization go door to door to bring love to those in need.
43 year- old Ho Thi Lien, a resident of Quang Nam Province, shared: "I have worked as a street lottery ticket seller in Da Nang for five years. I accidentally knew about this charity program over six months ago, so I come every month to get free breakfast. It's a small gift, but it makes me touched and feel very happy."
Over the past more than 4 years, the Nai Hung 2A residential area has achieved positive outcomes in its waste collection campaign, thereby contributing to protecting the environment, and keeping the residential areas clean and beautiful, as well as bringing joy and happiness to those in need. Most of the women in the residential area have actively got involved in this campaign. Specifically, the money raised monthly from the sale of recyclables goes to help disabled women members, poor households, and single mothers in the locality and neighboring areas.
"The recycling fundraiser has been launched for more than 4 years by our organization. Our campaign has received active support from food and drink traders as our residential area is located near a traditional market where many food and drink stalls are operating so they generate a lot of reusable plastics, including bottles, and cans. Over the over the past 4 years, the money raised by recycling has gone to help people living in poverty, as well as support disadvantaged school pupils to help them achieve their dreams," Ms. Loi said.
Mrs. Le Thi Xuan Tuyet, the Chairwoman of the Women's Union Organization of Nai Hien Dong Ward shared: "The charity breakfast program launched by the Nai Hung 2A residential area is very practical and meaningful. The small-scale yet meaningful program has spread love and kindness towards the needy as it has helped them have a delicious breakfast. At the same time, the organization’s waste collection campaign has expanded into many areas in the ward. The recycling fundraiser has helped to give gifts to poor and single women. These campaigns spread positive values in local communities."
