Head of PCC's Commission for Popularisation and Education presents Tet gifts in Da Nang

On Monday, Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Popularisation and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia visited and gave Tet gifts to social policy families, poor and near-poor households, and workers in difficult circumstances in Da Nang.

Head of PCC's Commission for Popularisation and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed his impression on Da Nang’s socio-economic development achievements in 2023, especially in tourism and digital transformation fields.

At the same time, he congratulated the city on being the first centrally-governed city to have its master plan for the 2021-2030 period with a vision toward 2050 approved by Prime Minister.

Mr. Nghia said that, over recent years, the Party and State have always paid attention to taking care of people's lives in each locality, especially those living in remote mountainous areas and maritime and island borders. He also praised the city's efforts to proactively carry out Tet care activities for needy people in accordance with Directive No. 26-CT/TW dated November 23, 2023 of the Secretariat on organising the Year of the Dragon 2024.

He wished people of Da Nang to continue to promote their glorious traditions and heroic history to build a prosperous and beautiful homeland, as well as to gain many new achievements in the lunar new year.

As a report released by Chairman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the city Ngo Xuan Thang said that the entire city currently has 7,244 poor households and 3,320 near-poor households.

Currently, the municipal government plans to spend nearly VND116 billion on providing Tet gifts for more than 130,000 people and households in need. Of which, more than VND7.6 billion comes from the central budget, over VND 92.2 billion from the city budget, more than VND9.4 billion from the city's ‘For the Poor’ Fund, and VND5.9 billion from the Trade Union budget.

At the programme, 60 poor families in Hai Chau, Thanh Khe and Son Tra districts, along with 40 workers and laborers in difficult circumstances received Tet gifts, including VND1 million in cash and necessities.

Also on the morning of the same day, Head of PCC's Commission for Popularisation and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia and leaders of Da Nang attended the programme "Zero-dong Tet Market" hosted by the city's Red Cross Society.

At the charity market, 1,000 poor and near-poor households, poor households, families with people infected with Agent Orange, disabilities, and critically ill patients, and other vulnerable groups were provided with shopping vouchers, worth VND600,000 each, to purchase essential products for Tet.

In addition, visitors had the opportunity to participate in a number of frre-of-charge services such as haircuts, calligraphy, health consultations and photo taking.
