Delivering his speech at a pre-Tet get-together on Tuesday in Da Nang for retired senior officials and generals, municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang sincerely thanked the retired senior officials and generals for their support for the guidelines and policies of the Party and government during the city’s building and development process.

Deputy Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet informed the guests on a number of the city’s socio-economic development achievements.

Specifically, the city's socio-economy gradually recovered, and maintained stability, with impressive growth of some industries and sectors. Service and tourism activities continued to be a bright spot with many regional and international-level events, especially the successful organisation of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2023 after a 3-year hiatus.

The scale of the city's economy in 2023 was estimated to reach more than VND134,000 billion, an increase of nearly VND10,000 billion against 2022.

According to Mr. Triet, Da Nang is the first among the 5 centrally-run cities to have its municipal master plan for the 2021-2023 period, with a vision towards 2050, approved.

The city continued to take some solutions to promote the development of spearhead economic sectors such as hi-tech and information technology industries, as well as work with relevant units to develop human resources in semiconductor and AI industries.

In 2023, the local information and communications sector earned over VND17.5 trillion in revenue, up 8.1%. The software export turnover reached nearly US$150 million, an increase of 12%. The city won many high information technology awards at municipal and national levels.

Mr. Triet added that, the city has chosen the theme of 2024 as ‘The year of promoting administrative reform, strengthening discipline, continuing to open up investment resources, promoting economic growth and ensuring social welfare’.

He, therefore, hoped to receive more opinions and constructive ideas from retired senior officials and generals to help the city realise its set targets, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of Da Nang in the coming time.
