Thousands of workers participate in Trade Union Tet Market 2024

The Trade Union Tet Market 2024 was officially opened at the Administrative Centre of Lien Chieu District, Da Nang, on Thursday evening. It runs until January 18.

Organised by the Confederation of Labour, the 4-day event sees the participation of 40 partners with more than 70 booths providing essential services, selling price-stabilised goods and offering many other incentives for trade union members and workers citywide.

Also, there are job consulting and introduction booths for trade union members and workers, and many exciting cultural and entertainment programmes.

Speaking at the opening of the market, President of the Da Nang Confederation of Labour Phan Thi Thuy Linh said that the Tet Market was part of a series of Tet activities for trade union members and workers with the theme ‘Tet Reunion - Spring Sharing’.

The programme aimed to mobilise party committees and authorities at all levels, employers, welfare partners and the entire society to take better care of the material and spiritual life of trade union members and workers, she added.

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2024, the Confederation of Labour organises a series of specific activities for trade union members and workers.

In particular, 30,000 shopping vouchers at the Trade Union Tet Market, totalling VND3 billion, are given to trade union members and workers.

Also, 2,500 online shopping vouchers on the Viet Nam Trade Union Tet Market’s e-commerce platform, worth VND750 million in total; and 19,900 Tet gifts, at a total cost of nearly VND10 billion; are presented to trade union members and workers in difficult circumstances.

The Confederation of Labour visits and gives gifts to workers who do not return home to celebrate Tet, and single workers in difficult circumstances at self-management worker groups at boarding houses, and an affordable housing development for workers in the Hoa Cam Industrial Park.

Free bus and train tickets are given to disadvantaged workers to help them return to their hometowns to celebrate the Lunar New Year 2024.

The organisation meets with 300 grassroots trade union officials who have made many contributions to trade union activities; as well as visits and donates gifts of encouragement to 30 businesses that have made great efforts to take good care of workers' lives.

Moreover, it hosts the ‘Tet not far from home’ programme with exchanges and sharing between trade union leaders and members who have not returned home to celebrate Tet with their families for many years.
