In addition, 67 others who are Party members have been helped with job placement by their localities or they have worked for the city's businesses and have been recruited into the reserve force. More fortunately, these discharged soldiers have earned a stable income from their jobs after completing their vocational training.
Regarding the city’s vocational training support policy for discharged service members, the municipal Department of Labuor, War Invalids and Social Affairs recently coordinated with the Da Nang Vocational-Technical School of Public Transportation to offer driver training programs for B2 and C licenses. After completing their driver training courses, discharged soldiers can create a jobs for themselves such as starting a family transportation business or they will be helped with job placement at the city-based businesses.
Furthermore, the Da Nang Vocational College is affiliated with the Vocational College No. 21 under the Ministry of National Defense to provide free vocational training for discharged soldiers with funding of the Ministry of National Defense. The training programs provide trainees with technical skills in such aspects as automotive technology, air conditioning and refrigeration engineering, industrial electricity, and welding.
In its efforts to provide timely support for discharged soldiers to help them get access to vocational training according to their preferences, the municipal government recently issued Decision No. 188 on temporarily providing funding for young discharged service members to attend driver training programs for B2 and C licenses. Accordingly, discharged service members who are permanent residents in Da Nang are eligible for such a course, and each will receive VND 14.5 million and VND 16.5 million in funding for their driver training courses for B2 and C licenses, respectively.
The municipal government has paid special attention to implementing support policy for discharged military personnel, as well as ensuring its effective implementation in recent years. This helps encourage young people to join the military as an enlisted service member, and feel secure when serve their country in the Military. In recent years, there have been many young men and women who have voluntarily registered for military service.
Especially, 2 or 3 children in a family together have performed voluntary military service. The positive results have been attributed to great efforts of authorities at local level, and the municipal government as a whole, to ensure successful implementation of support policy for discharged military personnel. As a result, the city has met its annual recruitment goal in both quantity and quality.
The city’s leaders have also paid special attention to attending ceremonies to see young people off for military service or welcome home discharged soldiers in a bid to give encouragement to them.
Specifically, in recent days, authorities at local level have organized meetings for service members who have completed their military service obligations. Also present at these events were leaders of the municipal government and local relevant agencies in an effort to show care to discharged soldiers by helping them with vocational training and job placement.
During a meeting for discharged soldiers held on February 20 by the Hoa Vang District Authority, Da Nang People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh said that in recent days, the city have welcomed more than 1,275 discharged service members in a thoughtful and meaningful way, demonstrating care of the municipal government towards these people.
Mr. Chinh also directed authorities at local level and relevant agencies to focusing on providing vocational training for discharged soldiers, as well as helping them find a job after completing their training courses. Importance must be attached to helping all discharged soldiers get access to vocational training according to their wishes, as well as helping 70% of them have a stable job after completing their training courses.
Like other localities across the country, Da Nang always gives high priority for providing timely and appropriate support for former military members in order to help them stabilize their lives as they are considered reserve force members who are ready to serve the country if necessary while they are an important force to help their localities ensure national defence and security, as well as build a strong and sustainable all-people border defence posture associated with a strong people's security posture, and a widespread all-people border protection force.
