Da Nang aspires for higher levels of success in 2024

In 2024, we find ourselves leaving the Year of the Cat and entering into the hopeful Year of the Dragon. Therefore, we have higher expectations for Da Nang’s economic growth.

Amidst the scene of the Bach Dang Flower Street with Dragon mascots, the stories of dedicated people behind the shimmering beauty of the flower street who play their part in organizing a contest to find the best ideas for floral displays and lighting decorations in Da Nang for the Tet (Lunar New Year) Festival 2024, as well as setting up the Bach Dang Flower Street to welcome in Tet with creation of amazing miniature landscapes and Dragon mascots. The intention is to convey messages of growth, positive change, and hope to Da Nang, as well as deliver inspirational messages of peace and hope for the year of the Dragon.

2024 marked the 10th anniversary of Da Nang’s contest to find the best ideas for floral displays and lighting decorations for the Tet Festival. Over the past decade, the contest has attracted a large number of design units and students. The winning ideas of the contest have been used by the city to create a beautiful space for local people and tourists to enjoy Tet.

During the Tet Festival, locals and tourists have flocked to the Bach Dang Flower Street to visit and take souvenir photos with their family members or their loved ones.

But most of all, everyone seemed to be able to trace Vietnamese historical and cultural roots in the Year of the Dragon Flower Street in Da Nang, The stylized Dragon mascot image taken from the "Sacred Dragon Seal" evokes memories of the time when Hung Kings founded the country of Van Lang, the first state of Viet Nam. while the image of flocks of stray birds flying up represents the city's desire to grow stronger and reach out to the world. In particular, the Dragon mascot is made of Bat Trang ceramics forming an S shape along with a pearl engraved with a map of Viet Nam showing the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.

The 5m-high dragon mascot was inspired from the dragon statue under the Ly Dynasty at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Ha Noi. It, made of Bat Trang ceramic, has been installed at the T-Bridge area opposite the building located at 42 Bach Dang during Tet.

As its name “Viet Nam’s aspirations”, this work expressed the hope that Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, would continue to prosper in the Year of the Dragon.

By the way, we would like to tell you a little more about a story of the Dragon image under the Ly Dynasty chosen by artist Bui Van Kien and his colleagues to create the Dragon mascot made of Bat Trang ceramics for 4 months. The Dragon image of the Ly Dynasty is inspiring and powerful while it was modeled as a gentle and friendly and gentle dragon. It not only represented the power of the Ly Dynasty at that time but also showed the indomitable spirit of the country. Dragons of the Ly Dynasty promote the faith in peace and solidarity among Vietnamese people. Every Vietnamese person has been burned with desire for development since ancient times, as Vietnamese people take pride in their culture and solidarity, plus indomitable spirit.

Entering the year of the Dragon 2024, Da Nang will focus on strengthening investment promotion activities, and granting investment licenses for foreign investors . More specifically, there will be many action programs for the city’s journey to promote the development of the semiconductor industry in an effort to gradually contribute to realizing the national vision of developing semiconductor ecosystem in Viet Nam.

In the year of the Dragon 2024, Da Nang will continue its efforts to remove bottlenecks and barriers to attract more resources for its development. Focus will be on implementing a series of tasks, such as an urban planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, seeking approval from the national government for the projects of the Non-Tariff Area and the Regional Financial Center, along with more specific mechanisms for the city, selecting investors to build the Lien Chieu Port, putting the Software Park No. 2 into operation, and attracting investors to this park. All these things will become a driving force of the city’s development on its new journey with a long-term vision.

Da Nang's development over the past two decades has been attributed to the solidarity of local people and the consensus among them. Heed will be paid to strengthening consensus among local citizens and businesses in the Year of the Dragon 2024 in an attempt to help the city enter a new stage of development, and make its citizens happier.

The meaningful Dragon mascot image on the Year of Dragon 2024 Flower Street along with the steel dragon on the Dragon Bridge which is designed in the shape of a dragon of the Ly Dynasty, reaching out to the sea, give the city and its citizens more strength to overcome challenges and difficulties to ignite their aspirations and burning desire to make the city more sustainable.
