Dangerous cold returns across Northern Viet Nam and North Central Coast as intense cold snap spreads
A cold weather alert has been issued for Northern Viet Nam and North Central Coast as national forecasters warn of dangerous cold temperatures across these areas.
The national weather service has attributed the cold weather to the influence of an intense cold snap.
The cold front is expected to affect Northeast Viet Nam and some parts of Northwest Viet Nam afterwards from late Monday afternoon February 26.
By the coastal areas they will see high winds at level 3, and farther inland you could find gradually increasing northeasterly wind at levels at 2 to 3.

Cold weather warnings remain in place across Northern Viet Nam and North Central Coast.
From Monday night, chilly conditions will prevail over the Northern region while the cooler weather is expected to work in the parts from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue.
The cold wave conditions intensify as the mercury is expected to drop further from Monday night in the northern region with the temperature likely to fall as low as 11-14 degrees Celsius, and even 8 to 11 degrees Celsius in its mountainous areas. Frigid temperatures can be expected in high mountains where can be as cold as below 8 degrees Celsius in some places.
Under these conditions, strong northeasterly winds at level 6 to 7, and gustiness of levels 7 to 8 as well as rough seas with waves as high as 2-4.5m are in forecast for the Northeast part of the North East Sea
The open waters off the Ninh Thuan – Ca Mau Coast, and west of the South East Sea (including the west of the Truong Sa Island ), could experience strong northeasterly winds at level 5, sometimes level 6, and the gusts reaching level 7, as well as rough seas with waves as high 2-3.5m.
National forecasters have issued warnings of strong winds and big waves to all vessels and fishermen operating at the warning areas. The national weather service have also issued a caution for fishermen and mariners, urging them not to go out into the sea during severe weather conditions, and to take the initiative to avoid dangerous areas or seek safe shelters during the bad weather.
Today will be cool, cloudy, with a chance for some scattered light rain for the northern part from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue while localized showers is likely across the southern part. North to northwest wind at levels 2 to 3 is expected to reach these areas. Maximum temperatures in the northern part of these areas are expected to hover around 19-22 degrees Celsius, and 25- 28 degrees Celsius in the southern part while minimum temperature will be in the range of 16-19 degrees Celsius, and 20-22 degrees Celsius in the northern and southern parts, respectively. The coolest temperatures are in the early morning and at night over the southern part.
Cloudy skies and the potential for localized rainfall during night hours are expected throughout today across the parts from Da Nang to Binh Thuan. Temperatures in these areas can expect lows of 21 to 24 degrees Celsius, and highs of 29 to 32 degrees Celsius.
