More than 5,000 primary school pupils in Tho Quang, Man Thai and Phuoc My wards, Son Tra District, Da Nang are receiving free examinations for congenital heart disease from February 26 - 29.

The free screening programme was jointly organised by the Son Tra District chapter of the municipal Association for Supporting Poor and Disadvantaged Women and Children, and the Cardiovascular Centre under the Da Nang Hospital.

After screening tests, if a child is diagnosed with congenital heart disease, the Son Tra District chapter of the municipal Association for Supporting Poor and Disadvantaged Women and Children, will guide the child's family to prepare necessary documents to propose the association, organisations and individuals to fund surgery and treatment costs.

According to Dr. Ngo Phuoc Tuan from the Congenital and Structural Heart Disease Department of the Da Nang Hospital, the early detection of heart diseases will help the kids receive timely treatment and get a normal life.
