"Exemplary performance, high sense of responsibility, and enthusiasm for work, and great passion for the community" are the remarks of colleagues about Mr. Duong Xuan Quang, Deputy Commander of the Military Command of Hoa Hiep Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District, Da Nang.

In late 2009, Mr. Duong Xuan Quang began working at the People's Committee of Hoa Hiep Nam Ward. In June 2016, he was appointed as the Deputy Commander of the ward's Military Command.

Since transitioning to the military field, Mr Quang and local militia soldiers have always upheld the spirit of combat readiness.

His promptness, punctuality, and strict adherence to orders are evident. Regardless of day or night, whenever incidents occur in the locality, Mr Quang and his colleagues are there on time. They get actively involved in safeguarding political security and maintaining social order on a daily basis, and adhering to watch duty similar to true soldiers.

With a strong political stance, courage to think and act, and strong determination to succeed, he proactively proposes and advises the Military Command, the Party Committee, and the People's Committee of the ward to issue resolutions, and develop plans to implement military and defence tasks in line with the practical situation of the locality.

He regularly coordinates closely with the Fatherland Front Committees, political-social organisations, the police, and party cells and management boards in residential groups to popularise laws on preventing social evils, and building a strong defence posture.

Furthermore, Mr Quang and the Military Command has always laid emphasis on recruiting and calling citizens to join military service annually, thereby ensuring and exceeding the assigned targets.

Soldiers who fulfill their military obligations and return to the locality are warmly welcomed by the Military Command, facilitating employment opportunities. Consequently, most discharged soldiers return to the locality and register for reserve forces, always ready to receive and fulfil assigned tasks. At the same time, they continue to uphold the qualities of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers", actively participating in local activities and movements.

To continuously improve the quality of training as prescribed, Mr. Quang always focuses on preparing lesson plans, lectures, training grounds, exercise areas, and training tools. Therefore, the number of trainees is ensured in terms of quantity and quality yearly.

In addition to training and combat readiness, the Military Command and the militia force closely coordinate with the local police to ensure absolute safety of locals and tourists on holidays, festivals, and political events in the locality.

Hoa Hiep Nam Ward is a coastal area, so it suffers significant damage during the rainy season. Therefore, Mr. Quang and the Military Command of the ward have proactively developed flood prevention and control plans and advised the Party Committee and the People's Committee of the ward to ensure the safety of local people.

Under his advice and leadership, the military and defence work of Hoa Hiep Nam Ward is always in the top ranks in Lien Chieu District.

Notably, the dedicated man always gets involved in volunteer blood donation campaigns. Understanding the importance of blood donation to saving lives, he has been donating blood since he was 18 years old. To date, he has donated blood 42 times, including 3 times for platelets.

The number of times he has donated blood to save lives exceeds his age. Not only does he personally donate blood, but Mr Quang also encourages family members and militia soldiers to participate in blood donation.

As shared by him, every drop of blood donated can save many lives. As long as he is healthy, he will continue to participate in humanitarian blood donation.

Moreover, he participates in the "blood bank". Whenever there is a phone call needing blood donation, he rushes to donate blood. His actions contribute to spreading love, igniting a sense of responsibility, living for the community, and enhancing the noble image of "square-shaped” soldiers who have different jobs, but they always seriously comply and participate in patrol to protect security and order, do many meaningful things when they are summoned.
